Jermaine’s Heart is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the memory of Jermaine L. Jones Sr.
Jermaine was a kind and selfless spirit who never hesitated to help anyone, especially a child in need. Though he is no longer with us physically his caring heart lives on.
Jermaine Lamar Jones Sr was murdered at the age of 28. He was attending a gathering to pay his respects to another family that lost a family member just the week prior.
Jermaine had a very giving heart and loved children so to honor him we are giving away backpacks every year on July 10th. We are asking for donations to help us reach our goal of 500 book bags for kids in need.
We also intend to bring awareness to the issue of gun violence. According to Every town Research,
- One-third of gun deaths are homicides.
- The U.S. gun homicide rate is 25 times that of other high-income countries.
- Access to a gun increases the risk of death by homicide by two times.
- Gun homicides are concentrated in cities—half of all gun homicides took place in just 127 cities, which represented nearly a quarter of the U.S. population. Within these cities, gun homicides are most prevalent in racially segregated neighborhoods with high rates of poverty.
- Black Americans represent the majority of gun homicide victims. In fact, Black Americans are 10 times more likely than white Americans to die by gun homicide. [i]
